JOB SUMMARY: Perform the duties of an Equipment Operator for the Streets Division in the Public Works Department. This is an on-call position.
Generally, work hours are 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. (12 hour shifts) as determined by storm events and may include weekends and holidays. May require overtime and evening hours as needed. Must be able to report to Streets Division office located at 2525 W. 1st Street, Loveland within 30 minutes of notification.
The salary range for this position is
$25.00 - $30.03 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
This is a part year position lasting a maximum of 10 months working less than 30 hours per week.
Position will remain open until filled. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Operates snow removal equipment.
- Clears roads, applies chemicals.
- Required to operate front-end loader.
- Prepares vehicle mileage reports and other documents as necessary.
- Performs routine maintenance on assigned vehicle.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: - High School Graduate or GED.
Experience: - One (1) year experience with large commercial vehicles preferred.
Certifications: - Must possess a valid Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) . Tanker endorsement preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: - Must have the ability to follow verbal instructions and communicate effectively with co-workers and crew leaders.
- Must be able to work in adverse conditions such as extreme weather variances, heavy traffic and equipment noise, and close proximity to moving vehicles.
- Ability to work safely and follow all established procedures and safety regulations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS: - Frequent exposure heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
- Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions that may lead to workplace injury such as working in heights, exposure to fly ash and/or energized electrical equipment.
ADDITIONAL WORKING DEMANDS/CONDITIONS:
- This position is considered essential personnel required to report for duty in response to community emergencies (e.g. natural disaster, fire, flood, blizzard, etc.).
