Florist (Maintenance Worker)

One part-time position available with the Parks & Recreation Department, Loose Park located at 5200 Wornall Rd
Salary Range: $19.27-$29.39/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

• This is a semi-skilled work in adverse weather conditions for
• Performs landscaping duties at Loose Park working in adverse weather conditions.
• Participates in collection of trash, routine grounds keeping, bathrooms and building maintenance activities.
• Operates trimmers, mowers, chainsaws for cutting up tree branches and limbs.
• Waters and cares for grass, plants, trees, shrubs, flowers and rose garden.
• Applies herbicides and pesticides.
• Cleans and maintains bathrooms.
• Participates in snow removal activities and related duties as required.
• Work assignments are received through oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to work with a group or complete assignments on own.

Qualifications

REQUIRES high school graduation OR 6 months of experience in general labor. May be required to possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference given for horticulture experience.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
