    This position will be filled based on previous experience as a survey student intern. The entry salary is posted above, with year-two rate of $18.04 per hour and year-three rate of $18.64 per hour.

    Job Location: Central District Office, 1511 Missouri Blvd, Jefferson City, MO 65109.

    The survey intern assists the field survey party by making survey measurements for route surveys by operating various field equipment. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

    What you’ll do:

    • Operates surveying equipment in accordance with department methods and processes.
    • Participates in measuring operations to establish horizontal and vertical centerline control.
    • Performs measurements and marking of locations for soundings, soil and geological surveys, intermediate right-of-way locations, and easement corners.
    • Sets out safety devices, work zone signs, traffic cones, and warning flags; places targets for photogrammetry.
    • Records survey data such as centerline profile, cross sections, vertical control and culvert sections in electronic field book.
    • Maintains survey equipment, safety devices, supplies and vehicles; computes and records mileage for survey vehicles.
    • Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.


    All you need for success:

    • Must have completed high school or GED/HiSET exam and enrolled in accredited survey-related courses.

    All you need for success:

    • Must be enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program; for engineering candidates, program must be ABET-accredited.
    • Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0.
    • Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.
