Why you’ll love this position: The State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center is looking for positive, energetic, and caring Security Support Care Assistants to provide services as part of one of our innovative nursing service teams to mentally ill forensic clients in a high security setting. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate compassion and an ability to work in a trauma informed and recovery based environment. Please see below for general job information overview:
- Provide direct care, treatment, and/or security of forensic psychiatric and/or sex offender clients in high security areas
- Accountable for assisting clients with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and other related tasks.
- Assist in checking vital signs, height, and weight as assigned
- Collect and maintain records of fluid intake and output
- Report on the condition of clients
- May perform internal environment of care checks or perform some security-related functions in a mental health care setting
Minimum Qualifications - Must be at least 18 years or older to work in SORTS units
- Ability to work with clients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or the geriatric population
Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the general care and treatment of clients in a maximum or intermediate security environment, including basic nursing, first aid, and emergency treatments. Ability to work with clients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or the geriatric population. Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed.
