  • Job Description

    Reporting directly to the Airport Chief Officer – Business & External Affairs, the 
    Airport Deputy Chief – Commercial Development, plays a pivotal role in overseeing the commercial aspects of airport management. This includes strategic management of airline affairs, which covers the negotiation and development of the Airline Use & Lease Agreements. Also, this position will be
    instrumental in fostering corporate business relationships with airline stakeholders, developing proper airline space as a part of future facility planning and oversight of compliance over airline agreements.

    The Airport Deputy Chief will also oversee the development of airport concessions, advertising, rental cars, airport real estate/land development and cargo programs, with a primary focus on revenue generation and strategic development.
    The successful candidate will lead negotiations, cultivate partnerships, and ensure compliance with City and industry regulations to enhance the airport's standing and financial performance. This position will spearhead commercial initiatives that reflect the City of Austin’s values and provide airport developments that elevate the customer experience at AUS.

    In addition, the Airport Deputy Chief will work closely with City Leadership and Airport Divisions on business planning and strategy development. The Deputy Chief will play a critical role in communicating and implementing department- wide strategies so that all employees, partners, and stakeholders understand airport goals and how their work connects to those initiatives.

  • Job Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business, Public Administration, Business or Aviation Management, Accounting/Finance, Engineering, or a related field, plus six (6) years of related experience, including two (2) years of which were in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Extensive experience in airport real estate leasing and development with a focus on contract negotiation and lease management.
    • Experience in airport concession development and management, with a focus on revenue planning and strategy execution.
    • Experience in Airport Airline Affairs management, with a focus on Airline Use and Lease Agreements negotiation and contract management and airline liaison requirements.
    • Track record in closing complex retail, airline and/or real estate transactions in an aviation environment.

    City Government
