    The Position

    Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, vulnerable adults with intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, serious mental illness, and older adults (collectively referred to as "vulnerable adults") and other individuals within local communities and institutions.

    Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

    The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Social Worker 1 (SW) underfilling a SW3 position for the Adoption Unit in Fernley. This is a full-time position, and a Nevada Social Work license is a requirement for employment. Under close supervision, incumbents at this level function in a trainee capacity, learning to determine social service needs of clients, develop appropriate solutions and case plans, and provide ongoing case management services. Advancement to the next level may occur after meeting the minimum qualification, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority. A social worker for the Adoption Unit will be responsible to deliver strength-based, family-centered case management permanency services to families with a goal of adoption that promote the safety, well-being, and permanency of children to include: Implementing plans of care; home visits; monitoring services; court report preparation, and record keeping. Ensure children have their medical, mental health and educational needs met. This position will also be responsible for reviewing subsidy files and negotiating subsidies with adoptive families.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Licensure or provisional licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker or Associate in Social Work. Special Requirements This position is subject to call-out or call-back. Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required by the Division of Child and Family Services. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. The Division of Child and Family Services requires this position to be subject to on-call. Licensure or provisional licensure by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker, or Associate in Social Work is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
