Under immediate supervision, supports Police Department operations by ensuring that supplies are available and equipment is in good working order.

- This is a part-time position (up to 20 hours per week).

Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To - Receives, unpacks, checks, stores and issues goods, supplies and equipment.
- Checks quantity and quality of goods for conformance to purchase orders and requisitions.
- Issues expendable supplies, materials, firearms and ammunition, tools and other equipment.
- Takes and maintains perpetual inventory of all Police Department property, goods and equipment.
- Coordinates the maintenance, repair and service of Police Department facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
- May make minor repairs and adjustments to tools and equipment.
- Performs miscellaneous routine cleanup duties to maintain supplies.
- Operates light and heavy loading dock equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and dollies.
- Transports vehicles to and from City Yard for required service.
- Performs minor janitorial maintenance.
- Performs other related functions as required.
Minimum Qualifications Two years of recent experience in inventory control, issuance of supplies and record keeping. Education equivalent to graduation from high school or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge of: Stockroom, warehouse and office procedures, inventory and record keeping methods and procedures. Modern word processing software such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
Ability to: Maintain accurate records; make simple computations rapidly; lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds overhead repeatedly for prolonged periods of time; use a forklift; perform routine cleaning and maintenance work; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees; and drive a City vehicle.
Special Requirements: - Possession and retention of a valid California Class "C" Driver's License.
- Forklift license desired but not required.
- Must be able to lift, pull, and carry up to 50-pound objects.
- Must pass a thorough police background investigation, which may include a polygraph and medical examination.
- Must be willing and able to work irregular hours which may include weekends, rotating shifts, and holidays as needed as a condition of employment.
Characteristics of Successful Performers : Successful performers are detail oriented and meticulous record keepers. They are comfortable in a structured working environment, but recognize and readily adjust to changing priorities. They are physically strong and capable of lifting heavy objects for prolonged periods of time. Successful incumbents display excellent interpersonal skills, multi-tasking abilities, and provide quality customer service to other City employees. Some experience working in a police department is highly desirable.

Part-Time employees accrue paid sick leave at the rate of one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked up to a maximum accrual of 6 days or 48 hours. Employees are eligible to use 3 days or 24 hours of accrued paid sick leave in a 12-month period.
