    CAP is an independent and ethically separate division of the Office of the Public Defender and our attorneys do not share information or otherwise interact with attorneys from the Public Defender or the Alternate Defender's Office. Individual private attorneys that contract with the government and are appointed by the Superior Court of California, County of Stanislaus to provide indigent defense because of a conflict declared by the Office of the Public Defender or Alternate Defenders Office or other court order. All obligations to protect the confidences of the client and zealously represent his or her interests are scrupulously maintained and respected.

    This position is a contracted position and wields significant influence over critical decisions that impact the community at large. Take your place and drive meaningful change! 

  • Job Description

    Our CAP attorneys may take cases within these areas:

    • Class 1 - 6 Cases
    • Juvenile Delinquency Cases
    • Civil Matters

    CAP Attorneys do not need to have a practice within Stanislaus County, but will need to be able to make court appearances as needed

    Contract as a Conflict Panel Attorney in Stanislaus County and make a meaningful impact in the pursuit of social justice.

    • You will have the opportunity to gain criminal trial experience in the court
