    Key Responsibilities:
    • Lead and Mentor: Guide a team of 9 Parking Enforcement Representatives and 12 student assistants, ensuring they are well-trained and motivated to meet daily objectives.
    • Training Excellence: Keep our training manuals up-to-date and deliver engaging training sessions.
    • Administrative Support: Provide essential administrative assistance and take charge as the night shift lead.
    • Student Engagement: Train and evaluate students and help manage our student field assistant program.
    • Resource Management: Oversee equipment and inventory to ensure everything runs smoothly.
    • Event Coordination: Lead and coordinate special events, working closely with other team members.
    • Campus Patrol: Patrol the campus on foot or by vehicle to enforce parking rules and regulations.
    • Service Response: Respond promptly to service calls, ensuring effective resolutions.

    Position Information
    • Full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
    • Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
    • Standard work hours are Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. Various shifts may also include weekends, nights, extended periods, and holidays, especially during special events or emergencies.
    • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

    Department Summary

    Parking & Transportation Services (PATS) is a department in the division of Safety and Community Empowerment in Business and Financial Affairs. PATS employs 18 professional staff and a team of student assistants. PATS provides comprehensive mobility services, solutions, and planning for the SDSU community. We employ a diverse team of professionals who coordinate and deliver parking, transit, micro mobility, car sharing, vanpooling, and other transportation needs. Our staff provide information and customer service to our campus community for permits, citation appeals, defensive driving and overall support for our parking management database used by our community for managing their parking accounts. PATS manages many vendor contracts in order to deliver services efficiently, affordably, and professionally. PATS Parking Representatives are responsible for the enforcement of parking rules and regulations on campus, in addition to providing parking and traffic support for numerous events. Our Parking Representatives provide enforcement through foot patrol and license plate recognition software. Student assistants provide office support and support services with our Parking Representatives through parking enforcement and special event support.

    Education and Experience

    Entry to the first level within this classification requires high school level reading, writing and mathematical abilities and possession of a California Driver’s License. The nature of the duties may also require successful completion of a background check. Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn how to use applicable parking-related equipment and automated systems is essential. High school diploma or equivalent plus three to six months related experience would normally achieve these entry qualifications.

    Licenses/Certifications Required

    Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.

    Key Qualifications
    • Working knowledge of applicable procedures and regulations related to parking and traffic control.
    • Ability to act and resolve parking and traffic problems.
    • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance, and 50 pounds with assistance. Repeatedly, sit, bend, walk for extended hours, stand, and have repetitive arm movement for long periods of time, exposure to car and flare fumes, and the ability to tow equipment.
    • One or more years of prior experience working in parking field operations relating to the enforcement of the California Vehicle Code and California Education Code is preferred.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,566 per month.

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,794 - $5,956 per month.
