    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Responsible for all aspects of day to day Climbing Wall management, including but not limited to, program development and curriculum, staff scheduling, facility maintenance, and training of additional staff.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Planning, organizing, and implementing climbing wall programs, classes, and indoor/outdoor climbing activities at the Community Center.Staff scheduling and adhering to budget restrictions.Supervising, coordinating, and performing equipment maintenance, as necessary.Maintaining an inventory of Climbing Wall supplies and recommending appropriate purchases and equipment replacement.Monitoring user groups and patrons during staffed hours on the climbing wall. Track member use during each session and report to Guest Services Supervisor.Providing a high level of customer service to Community Center guests.Enforcing safety standards, written rules, facility policies, and current industry belay and safety techniques.Certifying climbers for “Climbing Wall Safety Orientation and Belay Test” to have access to wall during un-staffed hours, maintaining records of all certified climbers.
    CORE COMPETENCIES:
    • Previous experience with indoor climbing wall and outdoor climbing and industry best practices is required.
    • Minimum of 1 year climbing experience, instruction, route setting, route rating, and gear and wall maintenance preferred.
    • Possess strong customer service skills.
    • Ability to enforce safety standards in accordance with facility regulations and industry best practices.
    • Ability to work independently, use good judgment, take responsibility, diplomatically respond, and handle problems, and be an effective leader and role model.
    • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with other staff members, parents, and participants.

    EDUCATION, TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS:

    Necessary:
    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of hire date.
    • Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

    POSITION REPORTS TO: Guest Services Supervisor
    DIRECT REPORTS ASSIGNED: 1-6
    JOB LOCATION: Community Center, 100 Wulfsohn Rd, Glenwood Springs, CO
    FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
    CATEGORY: Part-Time
    HOURS: Not to exceed 28 hours per week
