    The Position

    Librarians are typically assigned to the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records (NSLAPR) Division and perform a broad range of professional level duties in support of a library that organizes and provides access to a wide selection of materials in a variety of formats. Incumbents perform administrative work in planning, coordinating and directing activities within one or more functional areas of the library including, but not limited to, acquisitions; cataloging; reference; circulation; collection maintenance; serials; document delivery/interlibrary loan; government documents; library services for the blind and physically disabled; and/or statewide library development.

    Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.

    The Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records (NSLAPR) division is hiring a Librarian 1 underfilling a Librarian 2 as a Digital Services Librarian. This position reports to the Access Services Program Manager within the division. The position is an in-person position. This position is responsible for the following respond to requests for information from State agencies, researchers and the public; confer with patrons to determine the type and scope of information desired; use research techniques, knowledge of information resources and technology to locate resources and provide information or materials; assist patrons in the use of resources and equipment; refer requests to subject specialists as appropriate. Support the design and development of the NSLAPR website and support electronic access to the library's collection by patrons and other libraries. Promote information services and coordinate activities with other agencies and inform library users and non-users of new and traditional materials and services available through the library. Collect, maintain, and report digital resources and services statistical data to library administration.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Master's degree in a program accredited by the American Library Association; OR current enrollment in an academic program leading to a Master's degree in a program accredited by the American Library Association and two years of paraprofessional library experience; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university which included 21 semester credits in library studies and two years of paraprofessional library experience; OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university which included 21 semester credits in library studies and four years of paraprofessional library experience; OR graduation from high school or equivalent; 21 semester credits in library studies; and seven years of paraprofessional library experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above which included 21 semester credits in library studies. Special Requirements This position requires up to 25% travel requirement. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
