    Pay Range: $17.62/hr. - $22.02/hr

    Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday 7am - 4pm; Some evening/weekend work required.

    A Sr. Maintenance Worker - Aviation job is available with the City of Fort Worth Aviation Department at Meacham International Airport. The work will be in close proximity of aircraft operations. Typical work includes filling ruts, grading, maintaining barricades, repair airport signs and lights, facility repairs, painting, mowing, weeding, herbicide application, snow removal, electrical, fence repair and other duties as assigned. Must have clear and concise two-way radio communication while working under pressure. Applicant must have the ability to operate snow/ice removal equipment on ramps, taxiways and runways and be available for inclement weather conditions.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High School diploma/GED
    • Three (3) years of general maintenance and/or construction experience
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Must attain Full Movement Area Certification for the purpose of operating within the runway environment, and become proficient using FAA approved communication with Air Traffic Control, via aviation radios, within three months of hire date.
    • Must pass Drug Screen

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Candidates must attain Full Movement Area Certification for the purpose of operating within the runway environment, and become proficient using FAA approved communication with Air Traffic Control, via aviation radios, within three months of hire date.
    • Previous airport maintenance experience
    • Knowledge of aircraft ground operations, security, and regulations, pertinent to airport operation and maintenance.
    • Experience troubleshooting gate operators.
    • Preference will be given to applicant who possesses a CDL.

    The Sr. Maintenance Worker - Aviation job responsibilities include:

    • Performs aviation duties to FAA standards, which include mowing and maintaining grass within the Aircraft Operations Area, filling in ruts, grading soil, maintaining construction barricades, repairing or replacing taxiways, runways, windsocks, sign lights, electrical fences and facilities as needed. Paints pavement, applies herbicides and performs other related duties as assigned. Communicate with air traffic control and navigate in restricted areas.
    • Identifies construction, maintenance and repair needs for facilities and equipment. Performs identified work and reports maintenance and repair needs to appropriate supervisory staff. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as assigned. Inspects equipment before use and completes daily operations reports and time sheets as assigned.
    • Herbicide and pesticide application.
    • Assembles and disassembles traffic control pylons, barriers, and signs. Assists with traffic control activities as assigned.
    • Cleans debris from ditches, culverts and creek beds; collects and hauls trash, garbage, debris, dirt, sand and gravel; and, backfills jobs as required.
    • Cleans and maintains tools, vehicles and equipment. Completes strenuous repair, installation or construction activities.
    • Maintains and repair City of Fort Worth hangars and facilities.
    • Operates heavy equipment to remove snow and ice from airside and landside surfaces.
    • Coordinates with City of Fort Worth vendors to receive quotes and coordinate services.
    • Performs construction, maintenance, and grounds keeping activities such as concrete work, truck driving, asphalt spreading, and mowing.
    • Performs other related duties as required.
    • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.
    • Participates in an after-hours emergency on-call rotation.

    Working Conditions

    Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

    Physical Demand

    Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

    Medical Program
