    POSITION EXPECTATIONS
    The Skilled Trades Assistant will learn the practices and procedures to install and perform progressively skilled preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of equipment related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including commercial restrooms, kitchens, refrigeration, appliances, and lighting systems in and around LVCC facilities.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Assist with journey-level position assignments to learn the practices and procedures in the plumbing trades (and others).
    • Assist in routine to complex installation, maintenance and repairs related to boilers, chillers, pumps, generators, motors, compressors, electrical, kitchen and refrigeration equipment.
    • Obtain and organize necessary tools, equipment, and materials for the assigned tradesperson.
    • Learn how to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems equipment in LVCC facilities.
    • Safely and accurately operate the following for job completion:
      • Power and hand tools
      • Testing and diagnostic tools, such as multimeters, ammeters, compound gauges, and pressure gauges etc.
      • Various motorized equipment: carts, lifts, vehicles, etc.
    Read blueprints and schematics to diagnose repairs on equipment.Complete work orders for jobs performed.Clean areas after jobs are completed.Assist skilled tradespersons in maintaining appropriate logs and records.

    EDUCATION AND SKILLS
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Graduate from a certificate-producing accredited technical program or a minimum of one year of recent documented commercial experience
    • Ability to:
      • Take direction and work under close direct supervision
      • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
      • Read and understand blueprints and schematics
      • Operate ariel lifts at heights up to 60 feet
      • Work well in a team environment in a diverse team, be self-driven, reliable, and responsible
    Working knowledge of safe work methods and practicesWorking knowledge of the use and care of tools and equipmentGeneral knowledge of mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and divisionMust have a mechanical aptitude and ability to perform associated tasksBasic knowledge of computers; CMMS system experience is preferredEffective listening and interpretation skills in order to learn to satisfactorily perform work as directedCERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
    • Must have a valid Nevada driver’s license at time of hire and maintain it during employment.
    • Have or ability to obtain an OSHA 10 (Construction) certification within 90 days of employment.
    Must possess the journeyman and other required applicable certifications/licenses (NEC, EPA Refrigerant, Backflow Prevention Tester, etc.) within 36 months from date of entry into the position. Note: Skilled Trade Assistants who fail to possess their journeyman and other required applicable certifications/licenses within 36 months from date of entry into the position may not continue employment in the Skilled Trade Assistant role. If they are not eligible for and hired for another position within LCVCA, their employment will be terminated. Skilled Trade Assistants who are successful in their achievement of their journeyman and other required certifications will be promoted to a journeyman trade position (e.g. plumber, electrician, HVAC technician).

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Ambassador to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    The individual must have the mobility to work in a typical engineering setting, e.g., in and around general industrial and central plant environments that house electrical wiring and equipment, HVAC equipment, and plumbing fixtures as well as confined space or high/precarious spaces such as manholes, catwalks and rooftops. This person must be able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, balance and crawl, and have dexterity of hands and feet. Must be able to move/lift up to 20 pounds constantly, 50 pounds frequently, and 100 pounds occasionally. Must be able to distinguish color, size, shape and temperature, and be able to work in all climates. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

    The individual must have the ability to use standard office equipment, including a computer; ability to read and distinguish color on printed materials and a computer screen; ability to hear ability to communicate in person, over the telephone and radio. Must be able to drive vehicle to various work locations.

    Total compensation at the Authority consists not only of the salary paid, but also of the various benefits offered, such as group health and life insurance and retirement plan. Depending on the type of insurance selected, adding these benefits increases an employee's total compensation from between 30 to 40 percent.
