    POSITION SUMMARY

    Supports the Fleet Services Program Manager in day-to-day operations including timely vehicle and equipment maintenance; oversight of maintenance and fuel contracts; development of Fleet Services budget; and implementation of environmental and cost-effective vehicle replacement in support of sustainability policies and goals.

    This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Federation of Public Employees and therefore is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Federation of Public Employees.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.     • Ensures vehicle equipment maintenance is performed; monitors contract maintenance performance metrics
    • Supports administration of fleet maintenance and fuel contracts and monitors contract performance metrics; prepares annual vendor performance evaluations
    • Ensures timely, appropriate, and fiscally-sound vehicle equipment maintenance
    • Manages the installation of the Automatic Vehicle Locators installation, website, reporting and development of new programs
    • Contributes to the development of the fleet maintenance budget; tracks expenditures against budget appropriations; documents activities
    • Implements fleet repurposing, vehicle replacement, and asset disposal plan
    • Conducts research and testing programs on vehicles and equipment
    • Supports adherence to environmental policies and certifications at Fleet Central Garage and fueling facilities
    • Assists in developing vehicle/equipment replacement plan and budget
    • Coordinates with user departments to right size vehicles and equipment necessary for the performance of City services in support of sustainability policies
    • Provides customer support related to vehicle maintenance and operations issues Works closely with Procurement Services to develop bid specifications, quotes, requisitions and Commission Agenda Memos
    • Works closely with automotive vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of purchases and resolves manufacturer warranty concerns, addresses recalls and troubleshoots operational issues
    • Assists in overseeing operations of computerized fleet management and fueling systems
    • Compiles and presents reports regarding the performance of the Fleet Services function, vehicle and equipment performance, and cost data to internal stakeholders, especially the Fleet Liaisons and internal Green Team
    • In the absence of the manager, supervises fleet services and fleet contractor staff.
    • Performs related work as required


    JOB REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Must posses a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Must demonstrate a minimum of three (3) years experience in automotive and heavy equipment fleet operations and replacement programs.Proficiency with computer software programs and Microsoft Office Suite required. If claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form, and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form ( J-204) to the online application. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following:
    • Associates degree or have successfully completed at least two (2) years of course work from an accredited college, university, or technical/vocational school.
    • Government fleet or procurement experience highly preferred.
    • NAFA Fleet Management Association Certified Automotive Fleet Specialist (CAFS) Certification.
    As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.
