This position devotes a significant amount of time on routine administrative tasks. A Planning Technician often works with the public on a regular basis to provide customer service on planning/floodplain administration issues . The technician works to p rovide support in all facets of planning and floodplain administration projects, including land use planning, site development, subdivision, ordinance updates, and other administrative tasks; research property records, planning files and maps; communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; read and interpret municipal code, guidelines and applicable laws and regulations; performs routine office tasks in designated program areas, including data entry, file management, copying and answering telephone; assist in processing open records request; develops and maintains automated tracking systems, hard copy files and records; prepares memoranda, letters, email and other correspondence; Prepares maps, charts, tables of limited complexity; and assists with projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with having had a similar position for one to two years .
