Facilities Attendant

Full-time position available with the Health Department, Environmental Services Division located at 2400 Troost Ave
Salary Range: $17.35-$26.47/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Operates and performs general maintenance activities of facilities and of Class A, B, or C vehicles operated by the Health Department.
• Sets up auditorium, multi-purpose, meeting, and conference facilities and the presentation of public facing areas of the building.
• Performs reception and distribution of packages received at the building's dock.
• Completes work orders effectively through repetitive bending, heavy lifting, a high degree of walking and kneeling, and as warranted, giving moderately technical instructions to unskilled and semi-skilled workers.
• Specific instructions are received from a supervisor who reviews work in process and upon completion for conformance to instructions.
• Safely drives and parks Health Department Class A, B, or C vehicles from one destination to another as needed, using generators and operating slide-outs and other RV features, properly emptying tanks to dispose of gray and black water, maintaining a safe and clean vehicle.

Qualifications

REQUIRES 6 months of experience in custodial or related maintenance work or general laboring work. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
