    Requirements

    MOS Codes: 125D (Army)

    Education and Experience: An Associate's Degree or higher in Engineering, CADD, drafting or a closely related scientific field and two (2) years of CADD or drafting related experience in construction or civil engineering.

    Licenses and Certificates : None

    General Purpose

    Under immediate supervision, prepare drawings, specifications and detailed plans for City of El Paso civil engineering projects.

    Typical Duties

    Draft, update and review drawings, specifications and detailed plans for designated projects. Involves: Prepare and review detailed plans and specifications using Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD) software and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software. Coordinate design details with consultants, engineers and contractors. Update documentation using detailed comments on plans and specifications. Verify accuracy of calculations and designs. Assure plans adhere to city code, state and federal regulations. Assist in surveying of vertical control, spot elevations and contours. Assist with the inspection of public works projects. Prepare takeoffs of materials and equipment for cost estimates. Supervise lower level technicians and scanning personnel and manage the quality control of the engineering document scanning process.
