    Workdays & Hours: Monday - Thursday 7AM - 5:30PM; Some evening/weekend work required.

    A Sr. Equipment Operator (Concrete Maintenance Program) position is available with The City of Fort Worth’s Transportation and Public Works Streets and Stormwater Operations Division.

    The department is seeking to hire a Sr. Equipment Operator with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and to join our dedicated team for the critical task of stormwater concrete maintenance. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our stormwater infrastructure, ensuring the efficient flow of water, and preventing potential hazards. As a member of the team, the ideal candidate will work four (4) ten-hour work days and will be subject to emergency call-back. Emergency call-back could be after hours, on weekends, on holidays, and/or during weather events. You will be required to work outdoors, during inclement weather, around moving traffic/equipment, in and around water, and overgrown vegetation.

    The Sr. Equipment Operator position responsibilities include:
    • Use various hand and power tools such as shovels, sledge hammers, concrete placers, screeds, vibrators, demolition hammers and plate compactors
    • Assist in concrete maintenance related duties
    • Perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to completion of assigned jobs, such as operating a concrete truck, setting forms, pouring concrete, pipe installation, repairing drainage pipe, drainage structure installations, concrete lined channel work, working with and around heavy equipment, drainage structure repairs, traffic control setup and confined space.
    • Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
    • Operate a variety of motorized equipment such as dump trucks, trailers, backhoes, skid steers, concrete truck, excavators, compactors and front-end loader
    • Supervise small crews when needed Maintain policies and procedures
    • Hauling different types of material such as rock, dirt, sand, debris.
    • Traffic ControlSetup
    • Responding to emergency calls during inclement weather such as rain events, flooding, and Ice/Snow events.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Three (3) years’ experience in operations of motorized equipment
    • Must possess a valid Class A Driver’s License with a Tank Endorsement

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Proficiency in operating heavy equipment, Including operating a dump truck with a trailer, off-road equipment such as skid-steer, walk-behind, mini-excavator, payloader, and backhoe.
    • Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures, including flagging.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Computer skills including but not limited to (Vueworks, MS Office, and other related work order management systems)
    • Supervising crew when needed.
    • Drainage system knowledge

    Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

    Physical Conditions

    Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

    Medical Program

Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward.
