    The Position

    Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

    This recruitment is for an Admin Assistant 3. The eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies in various locations and agencies across the State of Nevada. The Admin Assistant 3 provide secretarial support to the manager of a complex work group consisting of professional staff and subordinate supervisors or they perform program, administrative or support duties. Assignments require problem solving and performance of specialized duties within the framework of agency/program policies, procedures, requirements, and applicable regulations.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions at the Division of Nevada State Parks may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks. This position has a 25% travel requirement. The incumbent is required to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
