    Responsibilities

    Under the general supervision of the Campus Architect/Director of Design and Construction, the Minor Capital Program Manager performs project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and oversight of design and construction for a wide range of minor capital and small major capital campus construction and renovation projects. The Minor Capital Program Manager manages and oversees all aspects of the campus’ Minor Capital project program.
    • Works directly with administrative and academic campus clients to develop scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for a variety of project types, including but not limited to tenant improvements, small infrastructure projects, fire alarm and fire sprinkler projects, landscaping, improvements to athletics facilities, signage, and furniture selection and installation.
    • Manages all aspects of the program, from project intake, assignment, planning, design, bidding, construction, and close-out, of approximately 50-75 projects annually.
    • Responsible for learning and adhering to the applicable requirements of the Public Contract Code, the State University Administrative Manual (SUAM), CSU and campus policies and procedures, the California Building Code, and other applicable codes and regulations.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field such as Engineering, Planning or Interior Architecture.
    • A minimum of ten years' experience in project management, project planning, design, development, construction management, interior design, furniture, or capital program management.
    • Demonstrated experience managing, supervising, motivating and inspiring staff to excellence in performance.
    • Strong negotiating skills, creative & innovative problem solving, strong budgetary management skills, strong communication skills (written and oral), and the ability to collaborate.
    • Demonstrated expertise in the selection and procurement of furniture and furniture systems for higher education use.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or related field such as Engineering, Planning, or Interior Architecture.
    • Experience working in an institution of higher education in planning, design and construction.

    • Demonstrated experience managing design and construction projects.
    • Strong negotiating skills, creative and innovative problem solving, strong budgetary management skills, excellent communication skills (written and oral), and the ability to collaborate.
    • Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple projects at once, skillful in developing relationships and working with disparate types of clients and departments, and able to execute a wide variety of projects.
    • The nature of the work requires good judgement, dedication to efficient and effective project management, diligence, diplomacy, creativity, and resourcefulness, and the ability to adhere to deadlines.

    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
    • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
    • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $120,000 - $130,000 per year, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
    • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
