The Assessor’s Office is seeking to fill three permanent full-time Real Property Technical Assistant vacancies.
The eligible list from this recruitment may also be used to fill current or future vacancies in the Public Works Department.

What you will typically be responsible for:- Resolving property description discrepancies by working with title companies and drafters
- Determining re-appraisability of non-standard property transfers by analysis of deeds
- Calculating values based upon appraiser's data and completing appraisal worksheets
- Extracting historical cost of improvements after researching archival records
- Outlining architectural drawings in preparation for computations of square footage
- Researching the appropriate asset tables for computation of personal property account values
- Performing field activities such as photographing property, measuring, discovering new businesses, canvassing for new construction, and inventorying sold properties
- Researching market rent information and property records for Proposition 8 appeals

Minimum QualificationsLicense Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License will be accepted during the application process.
Education: Possession of high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency or a high school proficiency certificate.
Experience: Four years of full-time or its equivalent clerical experience at least two years of which must have included processing documents for real property transactions, tax assessments, civil engineering projects, or other land use activities.
Substitution: Successful completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university which included at least 18 semester (or 27 quarter) units in accounting, business, economics, marketing, real estate, or a closely related field; and two (2) years of full-time or its equivalent clerical experience processing documents for real property transactions, tax assessments, civil engineering projects, or other land use activities in Contra Costa County.
Selection ProcessApplication Filing and Evaluation: Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
Remote Oral Interview: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited via email to complete a Remote Oral Interview. This assessment will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. Candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies, which may include, but are not limited to: Analyzing & Interpreting Data, Critical Thinking, Delivering Results, Attention to Detail, Self-Management, & Oral Communication.
