Hiring Range: $19.75 - $26.27 per hourFor more details, review the full job details and requirements below.The Permit Technician I performs technical work in the review, processing and issuance of building construction permits and scheduling of inspections. This job requires face to face, email and telephone assistance to the staff and public and is part of a three level career progression of Permit Technician I, II and III.
Key Responsibilities- Processes and issues a variety of building permits and certificates of occupancy; checks permit applications to ensure completeness of submittal package; routes submitted plans and applications to City departments and staff for review.
- Provides information requested by public and staff concerning building permits, certificates of occupancy, project records, etc.
- Prepares statistical and other required reports; operates a computer terminal to input and retrieve information; maintains excellent working knowledge of the permit tracking software.
- Calculates and collects permit, plan review, inspection, and certificate of occupancy fees; balances cash drawer and audits daily deposit.
- Answers multi-line telephone, screens and route calls; receives and schedules inspection requests; receives and inputs citizen requests and assigns to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Qualifications Experience: A dministrative or customer service experience preferred.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Licenses & Certifications: International Code Council (ICC) Certified Permit Technician or other ICC certification preferred.
