    What You'll Be Doing

    Are you someone who is passionate about helping others and looking for a great career opportunity? If so, the Wake County Capital Area Workforce Development (CAWD) has a Behavioral Health Case Manager position available. This position is responsible for comprehensive and complex case management for the Wake Local Reentry Council. To be successful, this individual will have prior experience working with a behavioral health or mental health program and will be responsible for coordinating reentry services including substance use disorder treatment, mental health treatment, basic needs, transportation and other support services. This includes working with facility partners to establish a continuity of care and helping reentry participants navigate and connect with relevant resources. The Case Manager determines eligibility and completes intakes, interacts with clients and partners, tracks performance data and maintains accurate documentation, advocates for needed services and works closely with the multi-disciplinary team to assist in decision making.

    The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Services, or related field
    • Two years of experience providing effective intervention strategies and case management to individuals with substance use disorders and/or psychiatric disorders; connecting clients to community agencies and resources including housing, transportation and other basic needs; and navigating behavioral health and mental health care systems
    • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

    Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

    • Master’s degree in social work
    • 3 years of Experience providing case management with individuals with substance use disorders and/or psychiatric disorders and effective intervention techniques
    • 1 Year Experience connecting clients to community agencies and resources including childcare, housing and basic needs
    • 1 Year Experience navigating behavioral health care system


    How Will We Know You're 'The One'?

    • Knowledge of best practice models for treating substance use disorders, behavioral health and reentry programming; person-centered/goal-oriented planning; motivational interviewing; and problem-solving techniques (This includes risk and needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluating customer satisfaction)
    • Ability to communicate both oral and written information with individuals or groups at all levels of the organization
    • Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet business needs (e.g., Microsoft Office, Client Management Software, and electronic document management system)
    • Knowledge of criminogenic risk factors and behavioral health disorders related to substance use and mental health
    • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, the court system and organizations, procedures and terminology
    • Ability to calmly deal with individuals in difficult and complex situations to achieve resolution
    • Understand core elements of case management, including assessment, planning, service implementation, follow-up and monitoring
    • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, representatives and other agencies
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maximize the use of time so that the many diverse tasks associated with the position can be completed accurately, completely and timely

    Hiring Range: 26.44 - 31.25

    Market Range: 23.57 - 37.00

    Emergency Service Worker Statement
