    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Landscape Architecture plus three (3) years of landscape architecture experience


    Licenses and Certifications Required:
    • Registered Landscape Architect by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.

    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Landscape Architecture plus five (5) years of landscape architecture experience, two (2) years of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity

    • Registered Landscape Architect by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners

    The purpose of the position for the Landscape Architect I or II under general direction, is to supervise and perform landscape architectural activities, including planning, designing, and developing parks, recreational areas and green spaces. The Park Development Division within PARD facilitates the development, improvement, and preservation of Austin’s parkland for future generations. We are design, project management, and construction professionals who lead projects from concept through construction.
    Our work includes:
    • Delivering Capital Improvement Projects in Parks, Trails, and Urban Spaces.
    • Designing our park spaces to be accessible, diverse, inclusive, sustainable, and
    • resilient.
    • Engaging and collaborating with community stakeholders.
    • Navigating complex local, state, and federal regulatory permitting as well as design and
    • construction contracting.
    • In-house construction of park improvements by the Facility Construction team as well
    • as onsite observation of park construction activities.


    Pay Rates:
    Landscape Architect I: $27.41 - $33.30 per hour
    Landscape Architect II: $32.23 - $40.29 per hour

    Preferred Experience:
    • Experience in developing and implementing park vision plans.
    • Experience managing public sector projects to include writing scopes of work, preparing contracts, and dealing with municipal permitting processes.
    • Experience in construction oversight/supervision of site development and park amenities like playgrounds, nature play, trails, ball-fields, pavilions, site furniture installation, landscape and irrigation.
    • Experience with developing complex design concepts through construction documents in Park Planning and Development.
    • Experience in community engagement activities to inform design decisions.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of SITES Principles.
    • Knowledge of City of Austin Land Development Code.
    • Proficiency with design software including AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.

    • Ability to travel to more than one work location.

    City Government
