Chastain Arts Center is a facility of City of Atlanta’s Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. We are seeking an articulate, personable, and energetic Office Assistant (entry-level/part-time). This person must be reliable professional and enjoy customer interaction at all levels.
Entry level position as an employee with the City of Atlanta.
$15/hour with benefits.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Assist with point-of-sale transactions through Activenet for purchases of art, supplies, and class registrations.
- Primary receptionist and point of contact for the public, students, and instructors.
- Answer phones in the main office for students and public inquiries.
- Check voicemails, respond to voicemails, and relay messages.
- Assist with gallery exhibitions and special events including the intake of artwork, developing exhibition labels, artist statements, negotiation of sales, and production of public and private receptions.
- Set up classrooms for classes.
- Maintain the sink traps in the studios: clean out and monitor throughout the sessions.
- General facility and studio maintenance on a daily schedule.
- Maintain supplies inventory and communicate when items need to be reordered.
- Stock studios, breakroom, and bathroom with supplies: paper towels, hand soap, stools, easels, etc.
- Cover studio tables with paper throughout the session and at the start of a new session.
- Assist with organizing the digital Shared Drive
- Communicate and add figure models inquiring for work in our figure classes to be added to our model binder.
- Communicate with students and instructors to curate The Shop at Chastain (gift shop) for special exhibits and for each session.
- Maintain inventory of artwork in The Shop at Chastain (gift shop) and organize sales in excel for commissions to artists.
- Curate and update the bulletin board with relevant information
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons
Requirements: - Customer Service background required.
- Task based and must work well independently.
- Must be well organized and able to focus in a busy environment.
- Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and have intermediate computer skills.
- Must work well with the public.
- Must have knowledge of art processes, artistic mediums, and some art history.
- Art Majors desirable, but not required.
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs
Minimum Qualifications / Education and Experience High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
