    Job Summary

    The Grand Prairie Public Library System is seeking a fun, energetic and highly flexible candidate to fill our Outreach Undergraduate Intern position. This individual should be passionate about education and community engagement, and be willing to jump in and take initiative as needed. Our Outreach Intern will attend events around the city promoting the library’s many programs and resources to the community. He or she will also support our Programming Team as they prep, set up for and break down programs. Our ideal candidate will cultivate a strong knowledge of all library programs, services and resources, and must enjoy working with people. This is a great position for anyone interested in gaining experience in education, marketing or community engagement. This position is part-time and will work approximately 19 hours per week. Many of these events will take place in the evenings and on Saturdays allowing for class during the day. Programs and outreach events take place across the city, at our three branches and in both indoor and outdoor settings. Mileage is reimbursed when the library vehicle is not available. Spanish speaking not required, but is a huge bonus!

    Minimum Qualifications

    Must have a High School Diploma or GED and currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

    No experience required

    Valid Texas Class C Driver's License

    For city employees who are regular part time (10-19 hours per week) or seasonal hired placed on City payroll, the following benefits are provided:
    • PARS - Public Agency Retirement System: the employee contributes 6.2% each paycheck to this retirement system and the city provides 1.3%. The employee does not pay into Social Security. All of the employees contributions may be withdrawn upon separating service from the city. The City's contributions will not be paid unless the employee retires under the system.
    • Part time or seasonal employees are not eligible for any paid leave or other benefits.
    • Part time or seasonal employees are limited to working only 1,000 hours per 12-month period, unless the seasonal is project based for a specific period of time which is typically less than 12-months.
