    The Job

    San Bernardino County is recruiting for Applications Specialists who help end-users to be more effective using departmental applications and computing tools by having strong business applications skills, technical expertise, and general knowledge of the department's business areas and information technology practices and methods.

    Incumbents may assist departmental Systems Analysts with the development and administration of business application requirements, security access authorizations, and other systems controls; gather and document application requirements and test data; and produce reports and queries.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment.

    Availability: Some positions may require availability for night and swing shifts, weekends, and on-call, including holidays as needed.

    *The eligible list may also be used to fill vacancies with the County Special Districts, Fire Department and CONFIRE JPA. The County Fire District and Special Districts are separate entities from San Bernardino County, and as such, compensation and benefits for their positions are set forth in a different compensation plan. The salary for County Fire and Special Districts Applications Specialist is $62,504.00 - $90,584.00 annually . Click here for a summary of benefits for each department.

    Minimum Requirements

    Candidates must qualify under ONE of the following options:

    OPTION 1: Two (2) years of experience supporting business applications (i.e., troubleshoot; assist and instruct end-users in effective use; resolve problems) and utilizing advanced features Microsoft Office Suite which includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience must include supporting Apple iOS and/or Windows 10.

    OPTION 2: Current PSE, WEX, or Intern for a San Bernardino County department, performing related duties AND a conferred Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, data processing, computer systems analysis or closely related field.

    Substitutions for Option 1: Candidates may substitute up to one year of experience with thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in computer science, information technology, data processing, computer systems analysis, or closely related field OR a completed Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Office Specialist credential or certificate, or Microsoft Solutions certificate.

    Candidates are required to list coursework and/or attach copies of certificate(s) on their application. Applications will be disqualified if candidates fail to provide a list of coursework or a legible copy of the certificate(s).
