Job Summary Performs technical, professional, and analytical work pertaining to the evaluation, installation, use, and maintenance of stand-alone and network-attached personal computer systems. An employee in this class is responsible for analyzing hardware and software needs, installing hardware and software, training personnel in the use of computer applications and equipment, analyzing manual and automated systems, and determining the feasibility of computer applications. The employee performs the physical installation of equipment, which involves lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and crawling. Work is performed under general supervision. Performance is reviewed through observation, discussion, and review of the effectiveness of programs. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field. Six (6) months to one (1) year of computer experience operating, installing, analyzing, and maintaining various computer systems, including hardware and software, as applicable; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass police background investigation. Additional Qualifications for Promotion (CSSA I to CSSA II): Job Family Competencies for CSSA I - Ability to install hardware/software with knowledge of MS applications and operating systems. The following factors should be considered for individuals seeking promotion while employed as a Computer System Support Analyst I. It is recommended that promotion be possible, given successful completion of the probationary period for CSSA1, an overall Rating of Meets Standards on the latest performance review, and quantitative verification of the following practical skills. 1. Demonstrated ability to perform problem determination, basic repairs, and system upgrades on mobile computers (MCTs). This includes activities to coordinate with service providers and other City of Orlando technical support staff, to identify problem wireless devices, replacing and re-initializing them as needed. 2. Desktop, laptop, and peripheral computer devices - Demonstrated ability to perform problem determination, repairs, and system upgrades (hardware & software). Ability to install and configure advanced applications such as Client Access, Document Imaging, Tidemark, and other client-specific applications. 3. Demonstrated ability to use SMS (Systems Management Server) application to perform remote control/management of client computers for use in problem determination and client support. 4. Demonstrated ability to assist clients with password resets and other issues related to login difficulties. Promotions are not to be considered an automatic function of longevity and are subject to the review and authorization of the Supervisor. The employee’s last performance review must have resulted in an overall rating of Meets standards or better with no factor rating of less than meets.
