RoleUnder general supervision, defines and assigns addresses to parcels and properties by examining legal descriptions and soliciting additional information from the public and applicants.
Major Duties, Responsibilities- Receives, ensures for accuracy, and processes new/change road name applications. Communicates with property owners and/or appropriate agencies of any address change or newly named roads and related issues.
- Accurately diagnoses and corrects a wide variety of addressing issues; responds to public requests for any addressing issues or concerns.
- Reviews Use Permits and Pre-code applications; reviews subdivisions at preliminary plat for road names and road layout; at final plat for previously approved road names and assigns addresses; creates and distributes address charts. Reviews permits and splits/combines to proactively assign addresses.
- Maintains databases related to 9-1-1 administration and edits GIS address tables.
- Maintains clearinghouse for proposed street names, as not to duplicate existing street names.
- Generates requested street/address maps for Emergency/Postal/Utility Agencies purposes.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of general office experience.
Additional Requirements:Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Other SkillsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of:- Principles, practices, and techniques pertaining to addressing and street naming.
- GIS ArcMap and Permitting Software.
- Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
- Clerical office practices and procedures.
- Research techniques and report writing.
- Current Microsoft Office software.
- Filing and recordkeeping.
Skill in:- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.

Ability to:- Accurately interpret and explain the Addressing & Street Naming Ordinance as it applies.
- Accurately read and interpret legal descriptions by use of protractors, engineer’s scales, compass, etc.
- Perform fieldwork on occasion.
- Take a proactive approach for continuous evaluation of unit procedures for opportunity to improve or streamline.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
- Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
- Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
- Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
- Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
Work Environment:The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated. Occasional field site verification work may be required.
Physical Requirements:Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
