    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Clark County Human Resources Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Office Services Supervisor position . This position will be responsible for supervising support staff in the department to include the customer service, recruitment, and background areas. This position will also provide support to the recruitment manager and analysts.

    THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 250 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AND WILL CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE ONCE THAT NUMBER IS REACHED.

    This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school, AND four (4) years of full-time clerical or secretarial experience. Prior lead or supervisory experience is desirable. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

    NOTE: Specified position may require typing at a net rate of 45 words per minute from printed copy.

    Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
    Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

    Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned office support staff.
    • Recommends selection of staff; trains staff in general office and County or agency procedures and specific departmental and unit policies and procedures.
    • Evaluates employee performance, counsels employees, and effectively recommends initial disciplinary action and other personnel decisions.
    • Determines work schedules and authorizes leaves, ensuring the effective, efficient and timely completion of all work.
    • Provides training to new employees on all aspects of safety requirements relevant to their position; provides updated safety training on an as needed basis.
    • Provides input into the budget and goal setting processes for the unit.
    • Performs complex, technical, difficult and/or specialized office support work related to the department to which assigned.
    • Answers inquiries, provides information and resolves complaints from the public or County employees regarding the function and activities of the work unit that requires the use of judgment and the interpretation and application of policies, rules and procedures.
    • Develops, recommends and implements improved operating procedures, forms and work processes.
    • Researches and compiles operational and statistical data and information from varied sources; maintains records and prepares special and periodic reports.
    • Uses a computer to develop and manage databases and/or spreadsheet files and to develop special report formats.
    • Contributes to the overall quality of the unit's service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures.
    • Ensures that office administrative details, such as supply inventory, equipment purchase and maintenance, board, commission and committee support and relief coverage are attended to; operates standard office equipment.
    • Specified positions may drive a motor vehicle or be required to arrange for appropriate transportation to and from other County locations in order to attend off-site meetings or visit other work sites.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
