Distinguishing Features of the ClassUnder the direction of a Senior Librarian, provides excellent customer service, reference, and readers' advisory services with an emphasis on services to children within the library setting and in the local community. Plans and performs programs for youth. Participates in collection maintenance. Does related work as required. This position is half-time (20) hours per week and requires regular evening and weekend hours.
Acceptable Experience and Training• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
• Successful experience working with children.
• Experience in a public library setting is desired.
Required Special Qualifications• Candidates for positions in this class must pass a post-employment offer physical examination, drug screen, and background check.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

• Ability to develop creative and successful youth programs that serve the needs of the community.
• Ability to assist in instructing and training support staff and volunteers.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to provide outstanding customer service through the use of excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to keep records and files and compile reports.
