    The Position

    DMV Services Technicians provide customer services associated with driver's license, vehicle, and business occupational licensing programs including licensing drivers; issuing identification cards; registering and titling vehicles; issuing occupational business licenses; and processing reinstatements.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. OR Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2023-11, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2024.     The DMV Services Technician 4 conducts commercial and non-commercial driving skills tests including problem and high-risk drivers; drivers with physical/mental disabilities and for non and/or limited English-speaking customers; determine applicant's ability to safely operate a vehicle; review test results with applicant; counsel drivers, refer to driver improvement course and apply restriction to privilege when appropriate. Additional duties may include process and issue of driver's vehicle titles and registration; also balance and maintain office funds. Examiners must pass, within 3-6 months of appointment, the Certified Commercial Examiner Training and the Certified Commercial Knowledge Exam. Under the authority of NRS 239B.010.1(b), the DMV utilizes NRS 205.4605 - 205.810, NRS 293.504, NRS 293.5045, 6 CFR 37.45, 49 CFR 1572.103, and 49 CFR 384.228 as criteria to obtain a FBI fingerprint clearance check on current and prospective employees.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of varied and increasingly responsible experience related to registration/titling of motor vehicles or licensing motor vehicle operators, one year of which was equivalent to a DMV Services Technician III performing a variety of transactions involving standard driver's license and/or registration transactions, vehicle ownership transactions, issuance of duplicate driver's license and/or registration, and assisting new residents in obtaining driver's license/registration; OR one year of experience as a DMV Services Technician III in Nevada State service; OR two years of experience as a DMV Services Technician II in a relevant program-specific area. Special Notes In accordance with NRS 293.5045, the Department of Motor Vehicles, as a voter registration agency, shall not knowingly employ an individual in this class series who has been convicted of a felony involving theft and/or fraud. The Department of Motor Vehicles is required to comply with 49 CFR 1572.103 which provides that an agency involved in the issuance of Real ID Driver's Licenses shall not knowingly employ a person if they have been convicted of any of the felonies listed under this regulation. In accordance with 49 CFR 384.228, the Department of Motor Vehicles is required to conduct a national background check on any employee that administers Commercial Driver License (CDL) knowledge and/or skills testing, and the DMV shall not knowingly employ such a person if they have been convicted of a felony in the last 10 years or have been convicted of any fraudulent activities. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. For DMV Services Technician IV Driver Examiner positions, a valid driver's license is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
