Full-time position available with the Office of Mayor and Council, Office of City Council located at 414 East 12th Street
Salary Range: $4,619-$6,928/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Provides administrative assistance to Councilmembers, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating travel arrangements.
- Prepares and maintains official documents, agendas, and minutes for City Council meetings.
- Assists in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other materials for public meetings.
- Collaborates with Councilmembers on special projects that may include policy research, program development, program evaluations, and strategic initiatives.
- Conducts thorough research on various policy issues, compiling data and drafting reports as needed.
- Supports the development and implementation of community engagement initiatives and outreach programs.
- Serves as point of contact for constituents, addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintains accurate records of constituent interactions and follow up on outstanding issues.
- Assists in the development and distribution of newsletters, press releases, and social media content to keep the public informed about City Council activities and initiatives.
- Organizes and facilitates community meetings, forums, and events to encourage public participation and gather feedback on policy matters.
- Collaborates with local organizations and stakeholders to promote community engagement efforts and enhance public understanding of City Council initiatives.
- Assists with the preparation and management of the City Council budget and ensure compliance with financial policies.
- Maintains an organized filing system for all correspondence, reports, and documentation related to Council activities.
Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation, including or supplemented by courses in office administration, and 5 years increasingly responsible experience performing secretarial and/or office management work.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
