    General Description & Classification Standards:

    The Chief Data Officer (CDO) is a senior IT executive responsible for driving the organization's data strategy, governance, and utilization to enhance business outcomes. Reporting directly to the Chief Information/Technology Officer, the CDO oversees data management practices, ensures data quality and integrity, and leverages data assets to drive innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education and Experience:

    o Bachelor of Science degree in data science, computer science, information technology or a related field and a minimum of 10 years' experience in data management, analytics, or related field, with progressively increasing leadership responsibilities.

    or

    o A minimum of 15 years’ experience in data management, analytics, or related field, with progressively increasing leadership responsibilities without an equivalent degree (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis).

    • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing data strategies in medium to large organizations.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Advanced Education and Experience:

    o Master's degree or higher in data science, business analytics, or extensive experience as a senior IT executive overseeing data practices.

    Communication and Collaboration Skills:

    o Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

    Experience with Emerging Technologies:

    o Experience with emerging technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and their implications for data management and analytics.

    Certifications:

    o Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), or similar.
