The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at San Diego State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Embedded Machine Learning at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of August 2025. Qualified applicants must have expertise in embedded machine learning, including but not limited to the following areas:
• Hardware accelerators for machine learning
• Low-power machine learning
• Resource-constrained machine learning
• On-device machine learning
• Secure machine learning at the edge
• Specialized applications of embedded machine learning
The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule for Assistant Professors and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is from $105,000 to $108,000. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances. Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an active, externally funded research program, achieve excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise students, and participate in departmental governance and university service. The ability to collaborate with other research groups and establish or maintain connections with major industrial players in the broader embedded machine learning community will be considered an asset.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is strongly committed to excellence in both research and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The department offers ABET-accredited B.S. degree programs in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, M.S. programs in Electrical Engineering (both online and on-campus) and Computer Engineering (both online and on-campus), and a joint Ph.D. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
