What you’ll do:This is a 12-month professional position assisting the Assistant Superintendent in the administration of the school programs.
- Coordinate and facilitate IEP meetings and staffings as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
- Monitor the implementation of IEPs and the IEP process.
- Maintain all state and federal Special Education reports for the district.
- Assist in maintaining necessary student/staff reports and records.
- Assist in organizing and administering school programs to align to MSIP and Advanced Accreditation standards.
- Conduct pre-service and in-service workshops in consultation with the PDC and Assistant Superintendent.
- Assist in the supervision of promoting a safe, efficient and effective learning environment.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining effective student behavior management programs and plans.
- Facilitate committees and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
- Counsel with students and/or parents as requested and needed.
- Assist in directing, supervising and evaluating the performance of the teaching, related professional and paraprofessional staff as directed by the Assistant Superintendent.
- Assist in the interviewing and selection of staff.
- Assume primary responsibility for the total education and training programs in the Assistant Superintendent’s absence.
- Serve as an active member of the Educational Leadership team.
Additional Responsibilities: - Attend in-service and professional meetings at the direction of the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.
- Occasional travel to attend trainings and meetings.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Prerequisites for the Job: - Knowledge of blind, visually impaired and severely handicapped, deaf-blind conditions.
- An understanding of the Special Education Process, IEP planning and Implementation.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement school programs
- Ability to secure the cooperation and support of the school staff and parents.
- Knowledge of assessment tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of effective supervision.
- Ability to work under supervision.
Minimum Qualifications - Master’s degree and Missouri Administration certification; Visually Impaired, Severely Disabled, Deaf/Blind and or Special Education certification preferred.
- Three years experience as a classroom teacher.
