Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
If verifiable, we will accept and prorate part-time and volunteer experience.
Duties Description
As a Trades Generalist, duties include, but are not limited to:
• Ability to operate machinery such as skid steer, excavators, backhoe and loader. Complete daily maintenanceprocedures for equipment.
• Work outside in all weather conditions.
• Maintain adequate levels of supplies, tools, and equipment to accomplish tasks; make necessary purchasesfollowing all Agency guidelines.
• Assist with maintenance of roads, paths, and trails.
• Basic servicing of motor equipment including troubleshooting, checking fluids, changing fluids, parts, etc.
• Use hand tools, portable power tools, shop equipment and measuring and testing instruments appropriate to the assigned trade.
• Will be responsible for draining, winterizing, and recharging the park water system seasonally.
• Will be responsible for overall coordination and execution of projects, working independently with a minimumof direct supervision.
• Assigns, supervises, reviews, trains, and evaluates work of lower-level employees.
• Assist in snow and ice control and operate snow removal equipment.
• Use a chainsaw to fell and remove trees.
• Assist in other areas of park operations as directed.
• Perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.

OPERATING NEEDS:
• Must have the ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively with other staff.
• Must complete the Game of Logging (levels 1, 2, & 3) or approved equivalent as well as other associated trainings by the end of the probationary period or at the next class offering as a term and condition of employment.
• Must have the ability to supervise others.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be able to pass a physical for respirator use.

Location Pay:
The hiring rate will be the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 12 ($48,956) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400). The job rate will be the sum of the statutory job rate ($59,757) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400).
