The Job
This recruitment is only open to current San Bernardino County, San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, or Special Districts employees who hold a regular, contract, extra-help, recurrent, Public Service Employee, Work Experience Program (WEX) or intern position. Former PSE, WEX, or interns are eligible to apply up to six (6) months from the end of their assignment. Your County employment must be clearly listed in the work experience section of your application.
The Department of Public Health, Animal Care Division is recruiting for Animal Care Supervising Office Assistant who plan and supervise the work of a clerical and/or customer service unit. Incumbent perform various duties which may include the following: participate in hiring and disciplinary actions; plan and organize the daily clerical support operations of an office; set work standards, systems and office procedures; coordinate clerical services with other departmental operations; maintain office records; compile information and prepare reports, budget justifications, special projects and studies; supervise the preparation of reports, forms and correspondence, as well as a variety of complex documents and other materials; and handle unusual and difficult problems referred by subordinates.

The resulting eligible list from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies within the Animal Care Division.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.
Shift work and/or weekend work: Some positions may require shift work and/or weekend work. Must indicate availability on the application. Shift differentials and overtime compensation are available.

Minimum Requirements
EXPERIENCE Three (3) years of full-time office clerical experience which includes performing a wide variety of complex and responsible clerical duties, serving as a lead clerical worker, or supervising a clerical unit.
This experience should be clearly detailed in the Work Experience section.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have progressively responsible clerical experience, supervision of varied clerical staff, the ability to handle multiple demands and deadlines, and excellent computer and keyboarding skills, while consistently demonstrating exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
