Posting Expires: 11/19/24 Salary: $54,412.80 General Description and Classification Standards The Safety & Training Officer will assist in developing, organizing, and delivering safety and security training programs needs for employees across the organization. This role is essential in promoting a safe and secure work environment by educating staff on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and security best practices. This individual will work closely with senior training staff to learn and implement effective safety and security training strategies while gaining practical experience in a supportive team environment.
This is a first level, professional capacity of carrying out most assignments typical of the profession with supervisor guidance or review.
Work methods and assignment results are typically reviewed by a more experienced professional or a manager prior to final action.

- Position may focus on training programs and/or safety & security related training.
- Assist in planning, organizing and implementation of training programs for employees in assigned department to enhance employee education/skill level.
- Facilitates and implements safety related training, inspections and programs that enhance the safety and health of employees.
- Conducts need assessment to determine type of training needed and plans, develops and implements training and development programs based upon needs assessment.
- May provide instruction or identify other resources to teach the class.
- Facilitates and implements safety related training, inspections and programs that enhance the safety and health of employees.
- Performs safety inspections
- Maintain training records, attendance sheets and certification log.
- Assist in preparing reports on training outcomes and improvements.
- Conducts investigation for accidents, incident and injures.
- Performs safety analysis and reporting and facilitates safety committee meetings.

- Will be required to be in an on-call rotation to respond to incidents, accidents and injuries. Must also be available to work special events during night weekend and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications | Education and Experience Completion of Technical or Vocational course study in Safety/Occupational health.Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in a transportation-related industry, with demonstrated knowledge of safety regulations, protocols, and procedures.Completion of First Aid/AED/CPR, Defensive Driving and General Safety within the department Must have OSHA 30 Certification.
Preferred Education & Experience 3 years’ work experience that contains at least 50% of the duties related to safety and/or training. Completion of OSHA 510-Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction Industry and OSHA 511-Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry. Completion of OSHA 500-Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction or OSHA 501-Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for General Industry.
