The City of Pasadena seeks a strategic and highly skilled Chief Assistant City Attorney to lead its Civil Division.     In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of key legal decisions. As the Chief Assistant City Attorney, you will manage the Civil Division, tackle complex legal issues, and provide critical guidance to City departments and commissions. You will serve as a trusted advisor to the City Attorney, representing Pasadena’s best interests while ensuring transparency, accountability, and integrity across all operations.

    The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in public sector law, litigation, advisory, and transactional matters. A background in managing high-exposure cases and the ability to provide pragmatic and strategic solutions to complex legal challenges is essential.

    A typical way to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position would be to possess graduation from an ABA-accredited law school and at least five years of legal experience, with three years in municipal law and two years in a supervisory capacity. Active membership in the California State Bar is required. The annual salary range is $212,135 - $265,168 annually, negotiable based on experience, plus outstanding benefits.
