    OVERVIEW

    The pay range for SUDPT is $22.45- $31.73.
    The pay range for SUDP is $26.25 - $37.08.


    Kitsap Recovery Center (KRC), located in Port Orchard,

    provides both inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment services.

    KRC is state-approved and utilizes the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) treatment criteria. The facility houses 16 inpatient treatment beds and 16 sub-acute detoxification beds. Employees include treatment staff, administrative support staff and two private consultants contracted to provide medical and dietary advice and assistance. Annually, approximately 2,000 adult men and women receive chemical dependency treatment for drug and/or alcohol addiction. KRC serves primarily low-income and Medicaid-eligible clients. It also accepts clients with private insurance and provides information, education and referrals to all county residents.

    The mission of Kitsap Recovery Center is to promote healthy lifestyles and communities through superior, responsive, cost-effective chemical dependency treatment services leading to improved quality of life for those involved in or affected by chemical dependency.

    KRC has an exciting opportunity for a Substance Use Disorder Professional or Trainee (SUDP/T).

    The Substance Use Disorder Professional provides individualized, evidenced-based, culturally competent and trauma-informed treatment and case management services at Kitsap Recovery Center's adult inpatient program. This position is responsible for facilitating intakes, individual and group counseling sessions, conducting psychoeducational presentations, treatment and discharge planning, and continuing care coordination. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing holistic case management services to meet medical/dental, mental health, and housing needs.

    If hired as a trainee, this position will be a training position in accordance with the standards of Washington Administrative Code 246.811. While in the training program under the direct supervision of a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP), the incumbent is required to spend a significant period of time in consultation with the trainer. Upon successful completion of the training program, and registration as a SUDP in the State of Washington, and upon the recommendation of the Clinical Manager, the incumbent may be promoted to SUDP without additional selection procedures.

    Work as a SUDP/T is performed under close supervision and the employee will have limited independence and latitude to apply judgment and initiative. These limitations will be required until the incumbent demonstrates the ability to understand and apply judgment within the guidelines of accepted chemical dependency counseling practices and the policies and procedures of the Kitsap Recovery Center. Work is inspected and reviewed frequently and assignments are made to assure the proscribed training program is completed successfully.

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Required Education and Experience
    SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER PROFRESSIONAL (SUDP)

    • Must be a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP), registered in good standing with the Washington State Department of Health, with six months case management experience in a substance abuse/chemical dependency, mental or behavioral health treatment environment.
    • Six months Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT) experience as an employee of Kitsap Recovery Center will be accepted as equivalent to the required six months case management experience.



    SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER PROFRESSIONAL TRAINEE (SUDPT)
    • SUDPT applicants must have completed all educational requirements towards advancement and attainment of the Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional Certification and must have completed at least 500 hours of chemical dependency counseling training in accordance with the standards of Washington Administrative Code 246.811.030.


    Note: Education requirements must be supported by transcripts provided prior to appointment and may be met by: An associate's degree in human services or related field; or successful completion of ninety (90) quarter or sixty (60) semester college credits from an approved school. Coursework must include at least forty-five (45) quarter or thirty (30) semester credits relating to the chemical dependency profession and shall include the topics specific to alcohol and drug addicted individuals as listed in Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 246.811.030.2. All applicants, regardless of other degrees or licenses, must have completed the coursework listed.
    • Applicants with Bachelor's degrees are preferred.
    The successful candidate will have knowledge of the effects of alcohol and drug addiction, and the ability to evaluate, assess, diagnose, and treat those with addictions. Must have skills and knowledge in group and individual counseling techniques, case management, HIPAA, and confidentiality requirements under state and federal law.

    Criminal Conviction Standards:
    • The successful incumbent will or may have unsupervised access to children under 18 years of age, a vulnerable adult, or a vulnerable person, or access to a secured/confidential facility or computer system(s). As a result, Kitsap County will be conducting an extensive criminal background check by law enforcement agencies, which may include fingerprinting.

    Required Licenses, Certificates, Examinations/Tests and Other Requirements

    Please note: The incumbent is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all of the following required licenses, certifications and other requirements including continuing education requirements of Washington Administrative Code 246.211.

    Prior to employment the successful candidate must:
    • Provide a copy of Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) certification or documentation of training hours completed and a copy of Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT) certification.
    • Pass a criminal background check through law enforcement agencies.
    • Submit official transcripts from an accredited college or university if education is being used to meet the minimum qualifications.
    • Declare understanding of and willingness to comply with the requirement that there be no misuse of alcohol or drugs while employed at Kitsap Recovery Center.

    Within 30 days after employment the successful candidate must:
    • Complete Bloodborne/Airborne Pathogens training and receive Hepatitis B vaccine or sign a waiver
    • Complete a Tuberculosis Test (and yearly thereafter)


    Working Conditions/Physical Activities

    • Work is performed at the Recovery Center, which is a 24-hour, 7 day per week facility. The incumbent may be required to work over 40 hours in a week, and may be exposed to physical hazards while working with hostile clients with a potential for violence.
    • Adequate vision is necessary when preparing logs and observing clients.
    • Position requires frequent sitting, standing and walking through the work area, occasional pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds.
    • Speaking/talking on the telephone and in-person is required during frequent contact/communication with the public, patients, program graduates and other departments.
    • Some holiday and overtime work may be required.

    Essential Job Functions:
    • Provide individualized, evidenced-based, culturally competent and trauma-informed treatment services. Utilizing motivational interviewing skills, ASAM and diagnostic criteria, and other evidenced-based interventions, facilitate intakes, individual and group counseling sessions, present psychoeducational presentations, and provide crisis intervention services.
    • Provide holistic case management services to meet patients' individual medical/dental, mental health, and housing needs.
    • Maintain accurate and current clinical records in accordance with state and federal regulations, as well as the agency's policies and procedures.
    • Attend and participate in clinical meetings, trainings, and clinical supervision.
    • Monitor patient behavior and adherence to program guidelines to ensure the safety of all patients and staff. Address any behavioral concerns or program rule violations.

    Vacation Leave
    New employees are credited with 48 hours of annual leave upon hire and will be begin accruing at the rate of 8 hours per month starting on their 7th month of employment. Employees may carry over 360 hours from one calendar year to the next. Annual leave accrual will increase upon tenure, as follows:

    Upon completion of 3 years: 15 days per year (10.00 hours per month)
    Upon completion of 5 years: 20 days per year (13.33 hours per month)
    Upon completion of 10 years: 25 days per year (16.67 hours per month)
    Sick Leave
    All new hires will be credited with 48 hours of sick leave upon hire and will begin accruing at the rate of 8 hours per month starting on their 7th month of employment. Employees may carry over 1200 hours from one calendar year to the next.
