    POSITION OVERVIEW
    This role is crucial in supporting both ongoing and future employee development programs and initiatives within the Performance Management division. By aligning with the 2025 strategic plan, this position aims to enhance the professional growth and effectiveness of our workforce.

    The purpose of the Senior Organizational Development & Training Specialist role is to spearhead the continuous improvement and professional growth of the workforce. This position is responsible developing and delivering innovative training programs and organizational development initiatives. This position leverages data-driven insights and best practices to support the design of comprehensive training solutions that enhance overall business performance.
    By fostering a culture of learning and development, the Specialist ensures that employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. Additionally, this role involves close collaboration with various departments along with colleagues to align training efforts with the company’s strategic objectives, ultimately driving organizational success and employee engagement.

    This position will involve the development and delivery of comprehensive training programs that cater to the evolving needs of our employees. This includes:

    • Performing comprehensive evaluations to pinpoint skill gaps and training needs throughout the organization. Work with leadership and Performance Management team members to define and develop performance targets.
    • · Designing customized training programs that use diverse instructional methods to cater to different learning preferences. This encompasses workshops, eLearning hands-on activities, and collaborative projects.
    • Creating high-quality training materials that are informative and engaging, including presentations, manuals, interactive modules, and other resources.
    • Overseeing the rollout and ongoing management of training programs to ensure their effective and efficient delivery, including scheduling sessions, booking venues, and coordinating with trainers and participants.
    • Proficient in applying project management principles within a training environment, including planning, executing, and overseeing training programs and teams. Skilled in managing timelines, coordinating resources, setting objectives, and ensuring successful program delivery while adapting to dynamic needs and feedback.
    • Ability to provide impactful coaching to employees at all levels, fostering professional growth and development. Skilled in creating and implementing tailored coaching plans that align with organizational goals, enhance performance, and build leadership capabilities.
    • Continuously evaluating the effectiveness of the training program through feedback and performance metrics, using this data to refine and improve future training initiatives.
    • Staying up to date with the latest trends and best practices in training and development to ensure our programs remain relevant and effective. This also includes seeking out and integrating new technologies and methodologies.
    • Must have the ability to establish and cultivate strong relationships. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, ensuring understanding and retention.
    • Capable of adjusting training strategies and methods to meet evolving organizational needs and learner requirements.
    • Capable of conducting needs assessments to identify learning objectives and designing tailored training solutions.


    The incumbent will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to ensure that training initiatives are aligned with organizational goals and contribute to the professional growth and development of our workforce.

    TRAVEL

    If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

    Pay Range
    $32.23 - $40.29

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.


    1.Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental rollouts of citywide HR or OD initiatives
    2.Design and perform department wide needs assessments to identify and analyze major organizational problems
    3.Analyze the results of needs assessments, meetings, research, and other forms of communications in order to develop short and long term strategies for organizational development across an entire department or group of departments
    4.Coordinate the activities of other organizational development and training personnel, assigning tasks and monitoring their completion
    5.Provide advice to management and others on how to best handle their organizational problems
    6.Develop, schedule, coordinate, and deliver training modules, workshops, and facilitations to selected audiences
    7.Evaluate the effectiveness of training modules, workshops, etc. and make changes as needed to improve future results
    8.Plan, design, implement, and evaluate plans and activities for assigned projects and programs
    9.Facilitate groups in areas such as conflict resolution, team development, process improvement, strategic planning, and problem solving
    10.Participate in or lead teams with Organization Development, Human Resources and other team members

    Responsibilities- Supervision and/or Leadership Exercised:
    • Provide leadership for groups including other professionals and support staff in the area of Organizational Development and Training
    • Lead workshops and classes as an instructor or trainer
    • Mentor less experienced Organizational Development and Training personnel

    City Government
