    Monday through Friday 8:00 am- 5:00 pm

    Anticipated Hiring Range

    $6,192.00 - $6,879.00 Per Month ($74,304.00 - $82,548.00 annually)

    Salary is commensurate with experience.

    Position Summary

    This position is assisting the Trust Fund Lead Accountant and under the supervision of the Trust Fund Associate Controller. It involves performing intermediate-level professional tasks that apply accounting principles to address a variety of functions or challenges related to grants, contracts, and trust funds. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and involves independently managing a full range of accounting responsibilities. Key duties include monitoring accounts receivable, reconciling accounts, recording accounting transactions, identifying and resolving issues, recommending solutions, providing training, and delivering accounting services to the campus community in accordance with established policies, procedures, and general accounting standards.

    Position Information

    • Performs professional accounting functions independently for grants &contracts and trust fund
    • Provide accounting services to the campus community
    • Responsible for all daily and monthly billings and credit memo including analyzing, reconciliation and preparing for SFSU Trust funds such as Housing, College of Extended Learning, Romberg Tiburon Center, Parking, Campus Police and the Vista Room
    • Prepare, reconcile and monitor AR Aging report; generate and sent out dunning letter for trust fund; pursue account receivable collection efforts for all trust fund invoices including CEL and Housing TPC
    • Apply Wire/ACH, check, and E-market payments to outstanding invoices
    • Process departmental check deposit and work with Bursar’s Office on depositing unidentified checks

    • Ensure Trust and Special Project agreements are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles
    • Process and keep track trust agreements process; matches trust agreements expenses authorized signatures with delegation Authority
    • Daily Trust Fund certification for all Trust Fund AP payment


    • Prepare Trust Fund Balance for all cabinets quarterly
    • Prepare and reconcile auction sales and tax monthly
    • Prepare and reconcile One Card collection monthly
    • Prepare and reconcile Tittle IV payment monthly


    • Process Daily Trust Fund Journal Entries
    • Record monthly One-card, Library, Parking Tax, oction sales, and Title IV payment journal entry
    • Oversee the updating and maintaining process of CashNet Item Codes
    • Assist the campus community on ACH/Wire transfer payment set up and E-market
    • Key personnel on DocuSign workflow implementation for trust fund and grant&contract
    • Record Trust Fund and Grant & Contract ACH/Wire payments


    • Maintain Chatfield: Account & Trust fund request
    • Prepare PBC for SFSU’s annual financial audit and other intermittent financial review
    • Participate in the revenue reconciliation process for Year End financial reports
    • Assist in month end, legal and GAAP closing, provide supporting documents for internal and external audit
    • Provide general supervision and training to student assistants

    Minimum Qualifications

    Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); office methods and procedures; statistical and mathematical presentation of data; advanced proficiency with current word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems. General understanding of internal control methods. Working knowledge of federal student financial aid annual reporting requirements, and quarterly grant reporting requirements.

    • Abilities: In addition to those of the Accountant I, ability to apply accounting principles to the analysis of complex accounting problems; analyze and interpret accounting data; prepare clear, accurate financial statements and reports; utilize problem-solving techniques in finding solutions to complex accounting problems; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and principles; make decisions and recommendations regarding accounting activities; communicate effectively with others inside and outside the unit, including conveying technical information to non-Accountants.

    • Experience & Education: Equivalent to two years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience. Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance or a closely related field OR a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Desired experience with working with complex computerized accounting system
    • Knowledge of database report writing tools is a plus
    • Trust fund, Grants and Contract accounting and billing experience
