    The Position

    State Land Agents conduct a broad range of real estate transactions related to State lands, leases, water rights, mineral rights, easements, navigable water management, and acquisition and sale of land, water rights and development rights within statutory authority and in accordance with established real estate principles, practices and ethical standards.

    Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (NDCNR), protects, manages, and enhances the State's resources to provide the highest quality of life for Nevada's citizens and visitors. The NDCNR with over 900 employees consists of the Director's Office and the following divisions and programs: Environmental Protection, Forestry, State Lands, State Parks, Water Resources, Outdoor Recreation, Natural Heritage, State Historic Preservation Office, Off-Highway Vehicles, Sagebrush Ecosystem, and the Conservation Districts Program. The Department also provides support staff to the Nevada Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and has responsibility for numerous Boards, Commissions, and Councils. The Department has locations and/or provides program services in every community of the State. State Land Agents conduct a broad range of real estate transactions related to State lands. Transactions include the development and execution of authorizations to use State land, such as construction authorizations, leases, licenses, easements, and permits. State Land Agents also acquire and dispose of land and land interests, including water, mineral and development rights, within statutory authority and in accordance with established real estate principles, practices and ethical standards. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

    Under general direction, the Supervisory Land Agent manages the State Land Office section of the Division of State Lands. The position develops policies, strategic plans and priorities for the State Land Office; plans, organizes and directs property management, acquisition and disposal functions; supervises State Land Agents to include performance evaluations, work performance standards, scheduling, work assignment and review, training, and discipline; assigns and reviews projects to ensure work is performed according to standards and regulations; assists with the preparation of the biennial budget; prepares required reports for the Legislature, local governments, Board of Examiners, and others; evaluates State Land needs; and provides expertise and guidance on complex and sensitive issues. This position is located in the Carson City, NV office.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, real estate, environmental or natural science or related field and four years of professional experience in public lands management; real estate; escrow and title; property leasing, management or development; easements; property appraisal; or closely related field; OR graduation from high school or equivalent and six years of professional experience as described above; OR two years of experience as a State Land Agent III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Position requires moderate statewide travel. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
