  • Job Description

    Introduction

    This classification supervises administrative support staff, requires a broad knowledge of the organization, and is focused on excelling administrative support processes and services. This position is in Capital Project Management. Our department manages the design and construction of public works projects. We also have an In-House Design group and a Real Estate group.

    Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate's experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $36.64/hour.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
    • Must have five years of progressive administrative work experience.
    • Must have at least one year of lead or supervisory experience.
    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
    Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required for some positions depending on department/section assignment.

    Essential Functions

    Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
    • Supervises employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to: training, approving work schedules, recommending/approving personnel actions, coaching and counseling, establishing performance goals, and writing performance evaluations.
    • Demonstrates strong customer service work ethic and communicates that to staff supervised; works with staff to assure coverage, and completion of work assignments.
    • Determines current and future needs for equipment, furnishings, etc.
    • Reviews, and monitors various confidential personnel related reports.
    • Resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints pertaining to violations, policies and procedures.
    • Coordinates records retention by working with service provider to store, recall, and destroy records in compliance with State approved schedules.
    • Processes mail, determines equipment and supply needs and facilitates purchases, assists with training and professional association registrations.

    • Operates a variety of standard office equipment, including a personal computer that requires continuous and repetitive eye and arm, or hand movement.
    • Lifts and carries materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
    • Travel to/from meetings and various locations.
