    EC Inspector I - $47.35 - $57.56 Hourly

    $98,493.41 - $119,719.18 Annually

    EC Inspector II - $53.27 - $64.75 Hourly

    $110,807.22 - $134,686.86 Annually

    Examples of Duties

    The Role You’ll Play:

    As an Environmental Compliance Inspector, you’ll be on the front lines of environmental protection, conducting vital sampling, inspections, and investigations to ensure that businesses and industries are doing their part. It’s a hands-on role with room to grow as you gain experience and achieve new certifications.

    What You’ll Be Doing:

    • Collect and analyze wastewater samples to keep our community safe and compliant.


    • Visit businesses, investigate waste discharges, and address environmental incidents.


    • Serve as a trusted partner for local industries, helping them adhere to critical standards.


    • Prioritize safety in the field .


    • W orking independently to uphold the highest standards for environmental compliance.

    Qualifications

    What We’re Looking For:

    Educational Background:

    • Inspector I: Two years of college in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or related fields, or a high school diploma plus one year of relevant experience.


    • Inspector II: Two years of college with a major in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or related field, plus one year of relevant experience.


    • Technical & Interpersonal Skills: You’re a communicator who can bridge technical expertise with a people-centered approach, bringing a strong foundation in chemistry and environmental compliance.
    • Experience in fats, oils, and grease (FOG) and stormwater inspection is highly desirable.
    • Licensing: A valid Class C California driver’s license and a clean driving record.


    • *Inspector II* candidates must obtain a CWEA Grade I Environmental Compliance Inspector Certificate within 24 months.
