  • Job Description

    Salary: $75,969 annually

    Position open until 11/28/2024

    General Description and Classification Standards

    The Drug Custodian's duties include reconciliation, transport, testing, storage, and destruction of all narcotic evidence seized by the Atlanta Police Department.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field, with a focus on evidence management, drug handling, or property and evidence operations.

    Experience in using evidence management software, such as File on Q or similar systems.

    Preferred Education & Experience

    Associate's degree in criminal justice, forensic science, or a related field.

    Additional coursework or training in evidence management, chain of custody procedures, or law enforcement practices is a plus

    Certification in evidence management or property and evidence operations from a recognized organization (e.g., IAPE, CALEA) is preferred.

    Licensures and Certifications

    Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

    Essential Capabilities and Work Environment
    • Ability to lift and transport evidence items, adhering to weight restrictions.
    • Capability to conduct audits and inspections within storage facilities.
    • Typical environmental conditions associated with job Qualifications.
