The Library Services Manager * will serve as second in command to the C i ty Librarian , build ing upon established community connections and provide organizational leadership to strategically support the development of a phenomenal municipal library operation .

Your Impact
- Manage day-to-day operations of the library system and assist in the management of overall library operations and planning as second in command to the City Librarian.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and directing library services, ensuring they align with community needs and departmental goals.
- Support the City Librarian in hiring and managing professional, technical, and clerical staff; assist in establishing performance standards and discipline, conducting evaluations, and providing training and development opportunities.
- Aid in the preparation and administration of the library budget, monitor expenditures, and evaluate revenue projections; assist in resource allocation.
- Act as a liaison between the library and community organizations; facilitate community participation and feedback regarding library services and programs.
- Contribute to the development of short and long-range goals for library services, including assessing and recommending improvements to existing programs, services, and facilities.
- Prepare and present reports and presentations for the City Council, Community Services Commission, and other stakeholders on library activities and initiatives.
- Respond to complex citizen inquiries and complaints, providing resolution strategies in collaboration with the City Librarian.
- Communicate with a high degree of professionalism and political acumen, when interfacing with City Council members, various Commission and committee members, personnel, attorneys, advocacy and support groups, consultants and customers.
- Act on behalf of the City Librarian in their absence, representing the library at meetings and community events.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor' s degree in public administration, library and information science , or related field.
- Six years of progressively responsible experience in library or community services administration .
- Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- May require possession of or ability to obtain a valid California driver license.

*The Library Services Manager is a working title for the Community Services Manager classification.

Library Services will become a new division within the Community Services Department . To deliver programming and services along with award-winning events and experiences, the department is organized into six divisions: Community Parks and Outreach; Athletics, Aquatics, Arts, Great Park Operations & Attractions; Human Services; Events, Reservations and Program Services; Library Services; and the Irvine Animal Care Center. The department also includes a Business Services section that assists with budget and contract management.
The Process
The selection process will include an examination and a background investigation prior to appointment. This recruitment may establish an eligibility list to fill future positions in similar and/or lower classifications within the organization.
