The Position
Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
This Education Programs Professional position is with the Nevada Department of Education's Office of Career Readiness, Adult Learning, and Education Options (CRALEO) located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Under the direction of the Director of CRALEO, this position is responsible for overseeing the administration of Nevada's Career and Technical Education's (CTE) program areas. The Education Programs Professional will also provide technical assistance strategies and activities to maintain, improve, and develop CTE programs at the secondary and postsecondary levels and to maintain, improve and develop processes for students to earn industry recognized credentials, as well. Additionally, the Education Programs Professional will provide technical assistance and strategies to develop middle school CTE, and other duties as assigned by CTE Director. This individual provides consistent technical assistance to Nevada's local education agencies (e.g., public school districts and charter schools), frequently working with and presenting CTE programmatic information and guidance to internal and external stakeholders. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Doctorate degree from an accredited university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or related field and one year of professional experience in an educational program area, which included experience in at least one of the following areas related to the current vacancy: leading and managing a team that supports organizational goals; evaluating a program and/or program participants for compliance purposes or outcomes; developing and implementing a vision for desired outcomes; and/or communicating with diverse stakeholders across various platforms; OR Master's degree from an accredited university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or related field and two years of professional experience as described above. Special Requirements This position requires a pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. Show moreThe presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.
European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.
Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
The Nevada Legislature has honored the State's natural resources and cultural heritage with a variety of State designations described below.
