    Contra Costa Health includes a Health Plan, Public Health, Hazardous Materials, Environmental Health, Housing Homeless and Health, Regional Medical Center, Behavioral Health, Emergency Management Services, and a full complement of ambulatory care sites including school-based services.

    The Contra Costa County Health Services Department has an excellent employment opportunity for a full-time, swing-shift Computer Operator II position assigned primarily to the Health Services Information Technology Unit located in Concord, CA. Selected candidates should expect to work out of CCHS facilities in Concord.

    What you will typically be responsible for:
    • Setting up, monitoring, and operating various data processing devices including printers, tape and disk drives, tape cleaners, personal computers, network computers, computer consoles, and terminals.
    • Running programs in accordance with established Production logs, schedules, or written requests.
    • Documenting all jobs completed and ensuring accuracy and quality of completed jobs.
    • Reviewing console logs for errors and taking corrective actions.
    • Loading forms and paper stock into printers to ensure accurate printing.
    • Conducting system and database back-ups on a routine basis, filing backup tapes, and maintaining the tape library.
    • Ability to resolve or escalate job failures internally or externally via verbal or written procedure.
    • Troubleshooting various computer operations problems and responding to questions and inquiries from system users.
    • Providing support to computer programming staff, running and printing programmers' test jobs.

    The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for 6 months to fill any future vacancies in the County Departments utilizing this classification.

    Minimum Qualifications

    License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License will be accepted during the application process.

    Education: Possession of a high school diploma, GED equivalency or high school proficiency certificate and 12 college semester units or 15 quarter units in computer operations, information processing or other computer science related field or equivalent computer vocational training.

    Computer Operator II: Six months of full time experience, or its equivalent, as a Computer Operator I in Contra Costa County; or six months of full time as a computer operator on a medium to large scale computer system.

    Substitution for Education:
    Six (6) months of additional computer operations experience can be substituted for the required computer operations, information processing or other computer science education.

    Selection Process

Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.Online Multiple-Choice Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online multiple-choice assessment. The assessment will be conducted online to measure candidates; competencies as they relate to the Computer Operator II classification. These may include but are not limited to: Using Technology, Attention to Detail, Reading Comprehension, Writing, Professional Integrity; Ethics, Self-Management, and Teamwork. (Weighted 100%) Departmental Hiring Interview: To be scheduled once the eligible list is established

    CONVICTION HISTORY
